U-17 thrash Corinthians and get first points in the Brazilian Championship

The U-17 team Palmeiras took the field last Thursday (11), and thrashed Corinthians by 4 to 1. With the result, the team coached by Rafael Paiva reached three points in the Brasileirão category after two matches and occupies fifth place in group A.

In the derby, the Palestrina team came behind in the scoreboard, with a goal by Breno Bidon. However, the Academy's cubs equalized with David Kauã, in the 27th minute. The advantage changed sides early in the second half, when Figueiredo scored. The Alviverde still expanded with another one from David Kauã. Thalys closed the scoring with a header, at 14 minutes of the final stage.

Palmeiras back on the field by Brasileirão next Tuesday (16), at 18h (Brasília), facing Santos, in Arena Barueri.

THE COMPETITION

In the first phase of the competition, the 20 participating clubs are divided into two groups with ten teams each. Palmeiras is in Group A, along with Athletico-PR, Atlético-GO, Chapecoense, Corinthians, Gremio, Internacional, Red Bull Bragantino, Santos, and São Paulo. The teams in each group face each other, and the four best-placed teams from groups A and B advance to the quarterfinals.

Best matches

In the quarterfinals and semifinals, the matches will be played as a two-leg shootout, with no away goals as a tie-breaker. The final will be held in a single match, a novelty of this edition, and is scheduled to take place on October 26.
